In Japan at whatever period of the year a child is born, whether in January or December, it is said to be one year old on January 1 the following year. So one birthday serves for all. On the grave of Rudyard Kipling in Poet’s Corner, Westminster Abbey, was laid recently a wreath and a card, which read: “In afefetionate remembrance of Mr Kipling’s kindness to the Hon. G. Howard Ferguson, former High Commissioner for Canada, and J. W. Barrv, Toronto.’’
