London, September 9. In the first inning of its match against India Mr H. D. G. Leveson-Gower’s XI made 225 (Sutcliffe 94; Jehangir Khan four for 42). India in its first innings has lost one wicket for 102 (Mushtaq Ali 73 not out). CENTRAL-WESTERN SUB-ASSOCIATION.

The annual report of'the CentralWestern District Cricket Sub-Associa-tion states: “The accounts show a credit balance at the bank of £5 12/4, and the excess of income over expenditure for the year was £3 5/2. The association met with a loss on the only representative game held in the district, but after meeting current expenses, it was still able to provide, out of the season’s revenue, for 14 representative caps. “The inter-club competition for the Boyle Cup was perhaps the keenest yet held. The Limehills and Ohai clubs put up great performances in winning 12 games each out of a possible of 14. Limehills subsequently won by 33 runs in the play-off at Oreti. Winton and Otautau divided honours for third place. The McGavin-Stout trophy for the best bowling average throughout the season was won by H. Hammond jun., of the Limehills Club, who took 29 wickets for an average of 5.72 runs. Edie, of Ohai, was rurmer-up with 49 wickets at 6.67. Nimmo (Limehills) topped the season’s batting averages with the fine figure of 52.55, .Toll (Fairfax) being second with 36.00. “During the season the district eleven had its first win, beating Eastern Southland at Otautau by 52 runs on the first innings. The sub-association was later soundly beaten in the return match at Gore by an innings and 25 runs, and lost to a Town eleven at Invercargill by an innings and .14 runs. Peterson (Winton) headed the representative batting averages with 21.50, and Brosnan (Limehills) the bowling averages with 10.11.”

CYCLING TO-MORROW’S ROAD RACE. The Invercargill Amateur Cycling Club’s race to-morrow will be over a course df 30 miles to Mabel Bush and return via Roslyn Bush. This race was postponed last week. The handicaps are the same as published last week. The race is timed to start at 2 p.m. The 85mile trial postponed last week will be held this week-end. WOMEN’S HOCKEY TEAM FOR TO-MORROW. COLLEGIATE.
