GALLOPING AT RANDWICK
Gold Rod And Cuddle In Form (United Press Assn,—telegraph Copyright.) (Rec, 5.5 p.m.) Sydney, September 10. The training at Randwick to-day waa on the steeplechase grass, which was in good order. The course proper was closed in view of Saturday’s races. Gold Rod bowled over four furlongs In 50sec in great style, and was very impressive, Lough Neagh, going extra well, run the last four of seven furlongs in 511 see. Golden Chance indicated an early improvement by carrying a good weight. He completed six furlongs in Imin 16i and Billy Boy covered a strong seven furlongs in Imin 33? sec. Rob Roy again pleased watchers with seven furlongs in Imin 31£sec. Palm led Barak at the end of a smart four furlongs in 50sec. Custos and Cerne Abbas worked well over four furlongs in 50Jsec, the former leading. Distinguished, showing definite signs of improvement, covered four furlongs in 501 sec. Kow Tow was working much better and, with Dangar, he reeled off four furlongs in 50sec. Loud Applause ran away from Grand Boy and Martial at the conclusion of four furlongs, which were run in 51sec. Cuddle worked in first-class style over five furlongs in Imin 44sec. Silver Streak covered three furlongs on the tan in 38]sec. Allunga did not work. He is still a very doubtful starter in the Metropolitan Handicap. An examination disclosed that Black Friar’s injuries comprised extensive abrasions and bruises which appear to be superficial. Nevertheless there is a possibility that he will be unable to race during this trip to Australia. At Victoria Park Silver Ring galloped attractively over six furlongs in Imin lessee, and appeared to have something in reserve at the finish. Stretto was not ridden out to record Imin ssec for five furlongs—a good effort. At Rosebei-y, 10ft out from the rails, Mala ran a brilliant four furlongs in 49sec, accompanied by Golden Treasure ovei - the last three furlongs. Maia’s gallop was the most impressive.
