RECORD FOR JUBILEE DOCK

HANDLING OF FREIGHTER LIMERICK. (United Press Association.) Wellington, September 10. Last week the Union Steam Ship company’s new trans-Tasman liner Awatea established a record lift for the Jubilee Floating Dock, when she went on the blocks for painting and fitting out, but this lift of about 13,000 tons was surpassed to-day when the Union Company’s trans-Pacific freighter Limerick was docked. The docking weight of this vessel was about 15,000 tons.

The Limerick encountered a heavy gale on her voyage to Auckland from Los Angeles and part of a wire hawser was swept overboard and got foul of the starboard propellor. It was decided to dock the vessel to disentangle it.
