WOMEN’S DIVISION

KAUANA BRANCH. At the monthly meeting of the Kauana branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs W. Baird presided over a large attendance of members and friends. It was decided to celebrate the branch’s fourth birthday with a concert and dance. There was a record entry for the monthly competition. The competition “best article from a 501 b flour bag” was won by Miss M. Valli, with Mrs R. Butts second and Mrs Anderson jun., third. The “Best Bloom” competition was won by Mrs J. Baird, with Mrs Gorden second and Mrs M. Rabbitt third. A small bring and buy sale was held, resulting in the sum of £4 10/3 being taken. MOKOTUA BRANCH. At the monthly meeting of the Mokotua branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, Mrs Munro presided over a good attendance of members. The Best Bloom competition was won by Miss Hansen, with Mrs C. Clay second. The quarter-hour entertainment was a competition arranged by Miss D. Munro, which was won by Mrs Cameron. The hostesses for the day were Mrs B. Clearwater and Miss O’Driscoll. Under the auspices of the branch, Miss Nita Rosslyn, “the “Girl in Red,” entertained a large audience in the Mokotua Hall.

After supper a dance was held, music being supplied by Messrs S. Mincher and W. Fraser and Mr P. Clearwater. Mr L. McKenzie contributed an extra. Misses M. Munro and G. Clearwater were Mistresses of Ceremonies.
