MOTORIST ACQUITTED

CHARGES ARISING FROM TRAGEDY IN DUNEDIN.

Dunedin, July 22.

After a retirement of 35 minutes the jury acquitted John Francis Harris on charges arising out of a tragedy in Princes street on May 9, when, as a result of being struck by the accused’s car, two men were killed and two women were seriously injured. The charges were that while intoxicated in charge of a car, Harris caused the death of two men, and, alternately, that he caused the deaths through negligent driving.
