OBITUARY

MR AUGUSTUS VAILOUX. FORMER NEW ZEALAND JOURNALIST. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Sydney, July 21. The death is announced of Mr Augustus Vailoux, an authority on local government and formerly a journalist in New Zealand and Australia. He was 81 years of age. THE REV. C. F. PIERCE. FORMER HEADMASTER OF WANGANUI SCHOOL (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) London, July 20. The death is announced of the Rev. Charles Frederick Pierce, who was headmaster of Wanganui Collegiate School from 1922 to 1931. MR A. J. FARQUHAR. (United Press Association.) Auckland, July 21. The death has occurred at San Francisco of Mr A. J. Farquhar, formerly racing editor of The Auckland Star and later secretary of the Avondale Jockey Club. He left the Dominion last March to visit a son in America.
