WOMEN’S INSTITUTE DRAMA FESTIVAL.

To the Editor. Sir,—I wish to endorse the remarks made by “Fair Play” in this morning’s paper and also to make the position quite clear. Winton’s performance at the festival was, I understand, most meritorious," and by winning the festival two years in succession, this team now becomes the holder of the federation’s cup. In Monday’s issue certain remarks were attributed to Mr Wilaey who so kindly and capably judged this year’s festival. I wish it to be clearly understood that Mr Wildey has never before adjudicated a festival for the Southern Southland Federation. In previous years Mr J. J. W. Pollard was judge.— Yours etc., I. M. RAMSAY. President, Southern Southland Federation, N.Z.W.I. Niagara, June 10, 1936.

[Our Dipton correspondent writes: “In your issue of June 10 a letter appeared above the nom de plume of “Fair Play” criticising the report of the drama festival of the Southern Southland Federation of Women’s Institutes. As the writer of the notes I would like to answer “Fair Play” by stating that a full criticism of each team, together with individual placings was sent forward. However only a small and incomplete report was published.” We very much regret that a substantial part of our correspondent’s report was inadvertently omitted. If the Southern Southland Federation is prepared to give us a further full report we shall be pleased to publish it. —Editor, The Southland Times.] , r
