NEW GOVERNOR OF BURMA

COMMANDER COCHRANE APPOINTED. (British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, February 10. His Majesty the King has approved of the appointment of Commander the Honourable Archibald Douglas Cochrane to succeed Sir Hugh Stephenson as Governor of Burma. Commander Cochrane retired from the Royal Navy in 1922. The appointment will make necessary a by-elec-tion in Dumbartonshire, which he has represented since 1932.
