LODGE MEETING

ANCIENT ORDER OF FORESTERS. COURT SOUTHERN, NO. 9298. The fortnightly meeting of Court Southern, No. 9298, was presided over by C.R. Bro. D. J. Smith. Court Queen and Star of the South are to be invited to attend the next meeting when the James Macfie Memorial Scholarship prize is to be presented to the winner. The yearly balance-sheet presented by the auditors, showed a membership of 162 at the end of the year, and all funds showing satisfactory balances. The Visitors’ toast was responded to by representatives of Courts Star of South and Pride of Oamaru. After the meeting a debate between teams led by P.C.R. Bro. Hitch and ‘D.S.C.R. Bro. Eastlake was held, the subject being Railways v. Motor Transport. After an interesting hour the judges, P.D.C.R. Bro. C. W. Patton and P.C.R. Bro. J. Forrester, declared Motor Transport, under the leadership of Bro. Eastlake, the winner.
