ITALIANS IMPOSE DEATH SENTENCE. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.20 p.m.) Rome, December 25. Three Eritrean spies, charged by the Italian military police with giving information to the Ethiopian Government concerning the location of troops in Italian colonies, were sentenced to-day to be shot in the back. Nine others received sentences varying from one to 16 years’ imprisonment ETHIOPIAN APPEAL “UNRIGHTEOUS CONFLICT.” (United Press Assn.— Telegraph Copyright.) London, December 25. The Ethiopian Legation has issued an appeal to the British Empire and all Christendom to remember the unrighteous conflict in Africa at Christmas and to do their utmost to stop the slaughter. Abyssinia is protesting to the League against renewed Italian allegations that the Abyssinians are using dum-dum bullets, which Ethiopia considers a pretext to justify Italian violations of the rules of international warfare. COLLAPSE OF DUG-OUT ABYSSINIAN LEADER KILLED. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Addis Ababa, December 25. Dedjazmatch Wadde Mikael was killed accidentally as a result of the collapse of a dug-out he had constructed in a garden against Italian air bombardments. A QUIET DAY THE NORTHERN FRONT. The Duke of Spoleto, who arrived yesterday, took command of the Red Sea light naval units. MUSSOLINI’S STATEMENT NOT PROMOTING EUROPEAN WAR. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Budapest, December 24. “I have never thought and never will think of promoting a European war on account of the Abyssinian problem,” declared Signor Mussolini when interviewed by the newspaper Az Est.
