SHIPPING STRIKE
NO DEVELOPMENTS MEN TO HOLD MASS MEETING ATTEMPT TO INVOLVE THE AORANGI (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 8.25 p.m.) Sydney, December 26. There have been no developments in the shipping strike during the holidays. The shipowners abandoned until after the holidays any further attempts to man the vessels still remaining idle and it is not expected that a serious attempt will be made to find crews for the inter-state passenger fleet for at least a week. The strike leaders have convened a mass meeting of seamen for next Tuesday, when the strike position will be reviewed. It is reported that an attempt will be made to induce the crew of the Aorangi to join the strikers after the liner’s arrival. The crew will be invited to attend the meeting on Tuesday.
