THE WEATHER. (From Our Correspondent.) The weather lately has been very changeable, but for the most part cold, wintry weather has prevailed, with plenty of heavy rains. _ A Paddy’s Market, in aid of the Health Camp campaign was held in Ohai, on Saturday, when funds were augmented by about thirty-two shillDaphne Evans was the guest of honour at a linen afternoon on Saturday, when Mrs W. McCall entertained a number of friends who motored out to her home “Franklin Side, Wairaki. After afternoon tea had been dispensed, Mrs McCall presented Miss Evans with a number of parcels and wished her every happiness. Miss Evans suitably replied. Competitions were won by Mrs 1. McNeilage, Mrs W. H. Jones and Miss Dulcie Johnstone. Those Present were: Mesdames C. Baineaves, T. McNeilage, W. M. Davies, A. Guttery, W. H. Jones, G. H. Andrews, J. Cook, J. E. Flynn W. McCall, C. Church, A. Lowry, J. Haggerty R. Colquhoun, P. Grant (Nightcaps)’. Misses D. Evans, M. Wilson, Peg. Wilson, D. Johnstone, W. Falconer, M. Drysdale. Cricket. On Saturday on the Ohai domain, the local club added a further victory to their credit in the Western Central competition, when they met and defeated Oreti by 49 runs. The weather conditions were good and the wicket was in fair order. Ohai took many of Oreti’s wickets easily, the bowling of Hiller and Edie being particularly effective. Dalkie batted well for Ohai, securing 31 runs. Oreti did not show up in this section in the first innings. Andrews, has returned to her home in Balclutha. Mrs A. H. Guttery, and Miss Alnia Guttery, were visitors to town during the week. Mrs W. Davies was in town last week. Miss Marion Egan, Wairio, was the guest of Mrs B. Rushton for the weekend. Mr and Mrs P. Grant (Nightcaps), spent the week-end with Mr and Mrs G. H. Andrews.
