A RICH FIELD

GOLD FROM ARROW RIVER. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, November 7. A reminder of early Otago mining was created to-day when two men brought into the Otago Daily Times office a pickle bottle two-thirds full of gold and a tobacco tin full of nuggets, the largest of which weighed over two ounces.

The gold was the yield from a washup of the Golden Arrow Sluicing Company for 20 days’ work and was estimated to be worth £lOOO. The claim occupied is a site on the Arrow river from which over 70 years ago a party of miners headed by a colourful figure called Fox took 232 pounds weight of gold in a little over a month. The company has paid a 50 per cent, dividend on 1 the first -'ear’s working and expects to pay 100 per cent, this year on its capital of £llOO.
