RIFLE SHOOTING

THE GORE CLUB. On Wednesday afternoon the members of the Gore Defence Rifle Club completed the second stage for Mr Cunningham’s trophy, the match ranges being 500 and 600 yards. The Saturday men completed this stage a fortnight ago, but the Wednesday men had to postpone their 600 yards owing to bad weather. Boisterous conditions prevailed again on Wednesday. The topscorers were G. Hay and J. Catto, both securing the handicap limit; 95. The Mathews button for top score, off the rifle goes to J. Catto with 90. The spoons for range prizes were won as follow: At 500 yards by J. Catto with a scratch 48; at 600 yards by G. L. Sadd with 47, including three points handicap. The following were the detailed scores, with handicaps:—
