GORE LADIES’ CLUB.
SEASON CLOSED.
On Wednesday afternoon there was a large attendance at the Croydon links for the closing of the Gore Ladies’ Golf Club.
A medal round was played over nine holes, Mrs A. D. Reid being the winner.
The club captain, Mrs F. V. Piper, oficially declared the season closed. Prior to doing so she commented upon the improvement in the standard of play. The prize list was as follows:— Club championship: Miss K. Kirk; runner-up, Miss M. Rogers. . B grade championship: Miss Maher; runner-up, Miss Paterson. Silver medal, four best grade L.G.U. rounds: Miss Rogers; B grade, Miss Oswin.
Ringer: A grade, Miss Rogers; B grade, Miss Paterson. Fisher Cup, for best aggregate: Miss Oswin.
League competition: Misses Kirk and Rogers. A club presented by Mr Basil Smith was won by Mrs T. Fyfe. Silver spoons were won by Misses Paterson (2) and Kirk (2). Balls were won by the following: Misses Oswin, Kirk, Rogers, Paterson, Mrs Sinclair, Mrs Reid, Mrs Boult, Misses Blaikie, Maher, Rhodes, E. Johnston, L. Jopp, M. Murdoch and M. McLeod.
Competitions held during the day resulted :—
Long driving: A grade, Mrs Piper; B grade, Miss E. Johnston. Approach and putt: A grade, Mrs Sinclair; B grade, Miss Rhodes. Visitors’ putting: Mrs T. Fyfe.
