STRAY STOCK ON PUBLIC ROADS.

To the Editor.

Sir, —Your correspondent “Motorist” deserves the thanks of the travelling public for drawing attention to the danger of stray stock on the roads. I would like to know who is responsible if an accident should happen through a collision with stray stock. I have occasion to travel over the road “Motorist” refers to and have had one or two narrow escapes. As my business takes me over many parts of Southland I can safely say that this is the worst part for stray stock.—l am, etc.,

MOTORIST NO. 2.
