RIVERTON COURTS
MONTHLY SITTING. (From Our Correspondent.) The monthly sitting of the Riverton Courts held on Tuesday was presided over by Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., and Warden. Mining Applications. Leonard Cross made application for an ordinary alluvial claim for a term of six years, situated in old worked out ground in A. G. Fortune’s leasehold, Orepuki, area, one acre.—Granted. William Skeoch made application for a water race; three heads; Digger’s Creek, block 1, Preservation InletGranted. William Skeoch and Sidney Floyd applied for a prospecting license situated on Crown lands in block I, Preservation Inlet, on a tributary of Digger’s Creek, area 12 acres.—Granted. A. C. Pahl made application for expired water race, Orepuki (Taunoa Channel); term 2 years—Granted. Civil Cases. Judgment for plaintiffs by default was
given in the following undefended cases:—W. Crowther v. G. Shaw, a claim’ of £8 14/-, with costs 34/6; T. J. Henderson v. J. Rhind for £4 6/9, costs 26/6; G. H. Stancombe v. Cyril Wood £3 0/5, costs 23/6. Charge of Trespassing. G. Spain was charged on the information of P. Hamilton with trespassing on his property at Tuatapere. Mr E. B. Patrick, who appeared for complainant, stated that his client did not press for a penalty as he thought a warning would be sufficient. Defendant was ordered to pay costs (10/-) and solicitor’s fee £1 1/-.
