WHERE IS THE RANGER?
To the Editor.
Sir, —Yes, that is the question, where is the ranger? If there is not one, why is there not? The main highway between Dipton and Castlerock is troubled with roving cows and horses all the year round. There are between 20 and 30 head of stock always on this part of the road and it is time this sort of thing was stopped, for if it is going to go on, where is it going to end? Some unfortunate motorists will come to grief with these roving animals and the result may be fatal. Then when the damage is done, there will be a ranger. But why wait till then? This sort of thing should be stopped at once. It seems that a few farmers make a practice of turning their stock out on the roads and what is their reaso for it? It is because the grass growing on the road sides turns their eyes green with envy ? It does look tempting. But why make a nuisance of themselves by turning their stock out on the roads to endanger the lives of the motoring public ? Do these farmers ever think of this? If not, it is about time they did.— I am, etc.,
MOTORIST.
