ADDITIONAL PLANT

EVANS BAY POWER STATION. CITY COUNCIL’S DECISION. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, September 11. The Wellington City Council at the last of a series of special meetings today, decided to order additional plant for the Evans Bay steam, power station, more than doubling the present output capacity. The units to be ordered are one 15,000 kilowatt Parsons turbogenerator and two 7500 kilowatt Velox steam generators made by Brown, Boverie, of Switzerland. The steam generator has a boiler of very advanced design, which makes it possible for the full load to be taken up from cold in the matter of minutes, as compared with hours with the standard boiler.
