BUTTER IMPORTS
BRITISH MARKET. NEW ZEALAND SUPPLANTS DENMARK. (United Press Assn—Telegraph Copyright.) London. August 9. The Imperial Economic Committee’s report dealing with supplies of butter in 1934 draws special attention to the fact that New Zealand for the first time supplanted Denmark as Britain's principal supplier. The imports from New Zealand were 2.677.000 cwt, compared with Denmark’s 2,486,000. Australia was third with 2.104,000. Empire supplies amounted to 54 per cent, of the total imports—the largest proportion recorded. The consumption of butter per head of population was 25.21 b. an increase of 6.8 compared with 1930. ~The consumption of margarine was 7.91 b compared with 11.8.
