NAZIS DEFIED
CATHOLIC CHURCH I DECLARATION READ BY PRIESTS IMPRISONMENT RISKED (United Press' Assn. —Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 7.15 p.m.) London, July 21. The Berlin correspondent of the News-Chronicle says the Catholic Church has defied General Goering, hundreds of priests risking prison by reading, though secret police were present, at many churches an anti-Nazi declaration from the Osservatore Romano accusing the German authorities of infringing the concordat and characterizing as absurd Herr Frick’s statement that Catholics must obey all the laws. The Osservatore Romano also protested against attacks on Catholic youth and Catholic workers’ organizations.
