EXEMPTION FROM JURY
A NOVEL REASON. “CRIME A QUESTION OF INSANITY.” (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, July 22. An applicant for exemption from the jury service told the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, that he honestly considered all crime a question of insanity and should be treated as such. Sir Michael Myers granted exemption, saying that applicant, under the law as it stands, is unfit to sit as a juryman, adding: “I would keep you here a whole week, even though you were challenged on every occasion, only that it would mean expense to the country and I don’t see why the country should submit to that.”
