THE ELECTION
PALMERSTON NORTH SEAT. (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, July 22. In reply to a petition from local residents presented by a deputation this morning, the Mayor, Mr Mansford, agreed to contest the Palmerston seat at the general election as an Independent. He stated that he would reserve the right to support any party whose policy coincided with his views. WAIKATO CONTEST. LABOUR REPRESENTATIVE. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, July 22. Mr R. Coulter, Mayor of Te Aroha, has been adopted as the Labour candidate for the Waikato seat at the general election.
