TOKANUI NOTES
HOCKEY CLUB MEETING. (From Our Correspondent.) A meeting of the hockey club was held on Friday, Mrs Atkinson, president, presiding. It was arranged to hold the Victory Ball. Mrs Atkinson took the opportunity of resigning from the presidency owing to her removal to Waimahaka. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr and Mrs Atkinson in appreciation of all they had done for the hockey club. Arrangements have been made for the installation of a new boiler m the local dairy factory. The Quarry Hills Hall Committee held their monthly euchre and dance on Friday night. The winners were Mrs N. Macintosh and Mr A. Shankland. Music for the dance was supplied .by Mr and Mrs Macintosh and Mr Mainland.
The hockey club held a dance on Saturday night. Music was supplied by Mr and Mrs Macintosh and Mrs H. Gregg and Mr C. B. Atkinson carried out the duties of M.C.
On Thursday evening the members of the Bible Class held a social. Various games and competitions added to the evening’s enjoyment. Miss McLean sang and Mr Andrews recited. Mrs Atkinson was the pianist for the evening. The Rev. Mr Carmichael, of Fortrose, on behalf of the visitors thanked the Tokanui class for the very enjoyable evening and said he hoped there would be many more socials. Mr J. T. Gardiner thanked the visitors for coming and helping to make such an enjoyable evening.
