GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL
OLD GIRLS’ ASSOCIATION
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the Southland High School Old Girls Association was held last evening when Mrs J. S. Robbie presided over a good attendance. The secretary reported that arrangements were in hand for the social evening on Thursday next when a varied programme would be presented, and that a demonstration on the making of savouries would be given by Mrs A. H. Ryder. Miss Gilbert reported that the music circle would supply its quota of items, and the play-reading committee advised that it would stage the one act play, “The Second Visit.” Misses R. Rosco and F. Basstian were appointed to take charge of the supper arrangements. It was decided to have the demonstration on bouquet-making at the September meeting as flowers would be more plentiful then. The secretary reported that Mrs Bain Challis had agreed to give the demonstration. The question of joining the Drama League was again discussed and it was felt that it would be inadvisable to do so unless real enthusiasm was shown by members and a capable organizer as well as a producer could be found. It was finally decided to hold the matter over till the first general meeting, when if the necessary support was forthcoming, a circle would be formed and would make arrangements to compete at the December festival.
A list of garments required for children attending the health camp was received from the Health Camp Committee and several members undertook to do work in this respect.
