NIGHTCAPS MEETING. GOLDEN WORRY WINS. (From Our Correspondent.) Fine weather prevailed for the running of a Limit Stake at Nightcaps on Saturday. Fifteen dogs competed and some splendid coursing was witnessed by a large number of spectators. The winner of the stake turned up in A. E. Smith’s Golden Worry, who followed up his win at Invercargill. The Nightcaps Club has now a fine coursing arena and all courses were run off without any hitch. The officials for the meeting were: President, Mr T. C. Duncan; judge, Mr T. Duncan; slipper, Mr T. Dockerty; slipper’s steward, Mr H. Brazier; hare stev/ard, Mr W. Laidlaw; judge’s assistant, Mr M. Dixon. The detailed results were:— LIMIT STAKE. (Winner, £8 10/-; runner-up, £3 10/-.) First Round. J. Creegan’s g b Miss Dorado (Lupin —Dorado) beat H. Duncan’s N. S. f c Bonney Queen (Again Terminus—Miss Mickey. The two dogs went even to a good hare, Miss Dorado getting in two turns before the quarry got home. Points, 2—o. A. E. Smith’s bd d Golden Worry (Why Worry—Mickey’s Lass) beat W. Nisbet’s f b Lee Lupe (Lupin—Dorado). Golden Worry led up by five lengths, put in nearly all the telling work and ran out an easy winner. Points, 10—1. Evans and Kidd’s w and f d Invader (Lupin—Dorado) beat Mrs E. Rushton’s bd b Sabotage (Why Worry—Mickey’s Lass). Invader led up by three lengths. Both dogs then put in some even work. Invader, however, ran on to gain the majority of the points allotted. Points, 9—5. W. Young’s b and w d Davies Hope (Bindy Boy—Unnamed) beat Miss P. Kennelly’s bd and w d Cappie Ricks (Grand Slam—Nanna). The winner led up and doing good .work, won easily. Points, s—l. R. Hishon’s bl b Jubilee (BugleEarly Mom) beat W. Duggan’s N.S. f• d Gunner (Achieved First—Hard Luck). Gunner led up by a bare length and Jubilee then put in some telling work. A close tussle took place and Jubilee got the decision. Points, 5—3.
J. Moffat’s bd b Ruby C (Again Ter-minus-Limes Beauty) beat A. Prendeville’s f c Dixie (Historic—Unnamed). Rugby C led up by two lengths and got in a few points before Dixie opened her account. Ruby C then went on to win. Points, s—l. A. Dahren’s b and w® b Lady Be Ready (Ever Ready—Murie’s Pride) beat H. Robertson’s b b Blue Mint (Historic—Wild Mint). Lady Be Ready led up by eight lengths and in a very speedy contest did not give her opponent a chance to score. Points, 4—o. J. Tatham’s w and f b White Wilga (White Chief—Wilga) a bye. Second Round. Golden Worry beat Miss Dorado. The winner led to do all the work and won easily. Points, 6—o. Invader beat Davie’s Hope. Invader led by two lengths. A long course followed with Invader doing the bulk of the work. This was a good course with a very lively quarry. Points, 10—4. Ruby C beat Jubilee. Ruby C led up. Jubilee then got a turn in with Ruby C coming again for more points. Then followed some fine close work, Ruby C finally getting right in. Points, 6—2. White Wilga beat Lady Be Ready. Lady Be Ready led up by just a length. White Wilga then took some credit to finally get just double Lady Be Ready’s points. Points, 6—3. Third Round.
Golden Worry beat Invader. The winner led up by two lengths and both dogs shared in a fine course. Points, 6— 4. Ruby C beat White Wilga. Ruby C led up and in a lengthy run piled up quite a tally. Points, B—2. Final.
Golden Worry beat Ruby C; The winner led up by two lengths and took the first turn. Ruby C then ran,up to turn the hare. Golden Worry, however, was not to be outdone and turned prior to the game quarry escaping.
