STREET FATALITY
CORONER’S COMMENT.
WARNING TO PEDESTRIANS. (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, July 19. The necessity for pedestrians observing extreme care in crossing streets was emphasized by Mr A. J. Graham, Coroner, at the inquest on William Howard Turner, aged 67, who died as the result of injuries received in a collision with a motor truck driven by Claude Dustin, of Waitatara, on July 6. In returning a verdict of accidental death, the Coroner said that no blame was attachable to the driver. _ “This emphasizes the need for pedestrians to exercise extreme precautions. AU accidents are not the fault of car drivers. In this case the deceased apparently failed to look both ways before crossing the road.” The evidence showed that deceased suddenly emerged from behind another vehicle on to the track of the oncoming truck.
