OBITUARY

MR MATTHEW F. BARNETT. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, January 28. The death has occurred of Mr Matthew F. Barnett, aged 75, a wellknown citizen and the donor of the Captain Cook statue and of the Barnett Bowling Tiki. He was a past president of the Canterbury Bowling Centre and a former member of the New Zealand Bowling Council. Before the delicensing of the bookmakers, Mr Barnett was in partnership with the late Mr Peter Grant in a well-known bookmaking firm.
