FINED FOR ASSAULT
SHIP’S FIREMAN. USE OF MALLET. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, January 28. John Joseph Higgans, aged 36, a ship’s fireman, was fined £3, in default 14 days, for assaulting Jack Vlanovich, a tearooms proprietor. Complainant said the accused had an argument with a waitress and, uttering threats to kill her, picked up a mallet and hit the girl employee and then witness.
