Letter to Kitty
My dear Kitty, It was splendid to hear that your holiday is really due, I’m quite sure you deserve every minute of it and although you are somewhat of a belated traveller I feel sure you will enjoy it. The needs for a summer holiday are light my dear, several washing frocks, a supply of undies and several pairs of stockings are the fundamentals of your luggage. You must add a frivolous frock in case of a party and a plain but pretty frock to wear in the house and to change into when you come home from a picnic. It would be advisable to take a jersey and skirt and a beret in case of a coldish day, and heavy shoes of course, for you are sure to tramp sometimes and however dry the ground may be you must have protection for your feet. That is all, my dear, apart from the jolly old tooth brush and the et ceteras that go with it. Take all your accessories to match your frocks and, of course, all your pretty shoes and hats. You’ll just love your holiday, my dear, and I hope you have at least three swims every day and come home as brown as a: berry. Yours in haste, Jane.
P.S. Don’t forget your swim suit, cap and towel, J.
