Miss Lois Petrie, Ashburton, is the guest of Mrs A. L. Dolamore, Albany Street. Miss Ruth Blaikie, Devon Street, left last week for Nelson to spend the holidays with her sister, Mrs H. V. Searle. . Mr and Mrs G. R. Martin, William Street, have gone to Timaru for the Christmas holidays. Mr and Mrs F. H. S. Ibbetson, Dunedin, are the guests of Mr and Mrs James Hunter, Main Street. Mr and Mrs A. J. Hawke, Denton Street, left last week to spend Christmas at Invercargill and will later be the guests of Mrs R. B. Bannerman at the Rocks, Riverton. Mr and Mrs T. L. Piller, Garnet Street, accompanied by their daughter Noeline and their guest, Miss Audrey Amos, Ashburton, are spending the Christmas holidays at Kaka. Point. Mrs R. B. Bannerman, Willis Street, accompanied by her family, left last week to spend the school vacation at Riverton Roells. Mr and Mrs D. Harvey, Halton Street, East Gore, accompanied by their daughters Joyce and Aline, left on Boxing Day for a short holiday at Queenstown. Miss Fay McHutcheson, Howard Street, left on Saturday for Dunedin for the Christmas holidays. Mrs H. Hill, St. Albans, Christchurch, is at present the guest of her daughter, Mrs H C. Mac Gibbon, Wolsley Street. Mr and Mrs T. R. Price, Denton Street, are spending the Christmas vacation at Invercargill.
Mrs M. Anderson, Napier, accompanied by Miss Agnes Anderson,. arrived last week to spend a holiday with friends in Gore. Miss Diana Green, Joseph Street,, is spending the Christmas holidays with hei- aunt, Mrs E. McKenzie, Sunshine, Dunedin.
Miss Phyllis Gordon, Herbert. Street, left on Monday to spend a holiday at Tauranga, Bay of Plenty. Miss E. Alexander, Bluff, is spending the school vacation with her perents, Mr and Mrs D. Alexander, West Gore. Dr and Mrs J. M. Watters, Ashton Street, accompanied by their family, left last week to spend the Christmas holidays at Karitane. Mr and Mrs E. C. Smith and family are spending the holidays at Kaka Point.
Mrs E. Paterson, Albany Street, is spending a holiday at Dunedin. Miss B. Johnson motored to Dunedin on Christmas Day to spend her holidays there. Miss Sheila Ford, Napier, is spending a holiday with relations in Gore. Mrs E. Whitmore, Auckland, is the guest of Mr and Mrs A. Henderson. Miss D. Stevenson is spending a few days’ holiday at Kaka Point. Miss Isia McLeod, “Glenislay,” Mandeville, left on the Maheno from Bluff last week.
Mr and Mrs L. A. Bath, Devon Street, have returned from a fortnight’s holiday at Mararoa. Mrs D. Lyttle, Howard Street, is spending the holidays at Riverton. Mr and Mrs L. McDonald, Cromwell, are visiting Mrs McDonald’s parents, Mr and Mrs C. Chittock, Waikoikoi.
Miss P. Fleming, Invercargill, was a guest at the Carrington Hotel for Christmas.
Mr and Mrs S. B. Taylor, Ardwick street, accompanied by their children, left last week to spend the Christmas holidays at Christchurch. Mrs J. Torrance, Christchurch, is at present staying with her daughter, Mrs W. F. Young, Willis street. Mr and Mrs Hans A. Martin, Christchurch, are the guests of Mr and Mrs W. Baker, Main street. Miss C. Bamford, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs R. L. Pellew, Irving street.
Miss A. Hamilton, Wanganui, is on a visit to her parents, Mr and Mrs W. K. Hamilton, Denton street. The engagement is announced of Leslie Albert, second son of Mr and Mrs G. W. Allott, Pukerau, to Mabel Gwen, only daughter of Mr and the late Mrs Rooney, of Roxburgh. On Tuesday afternoon of last week the members of the Croquet Club entertained Mrs Maurice Cronin at afternoon tea and presented her with two art pictures in honour of her marriage which took place recently. The president, Mrs A. T. Pettigrew, made the presentation and expressed the good wishes of the members for her future happiness and prosperity. Those present during the afternoon were Mesdames A. T. Pettigrew, G. McLeod, R. J Telfer, A. A. Mac Gibbon, F. Wallis, J. Ritchie, A. H. W. Aitken, R. W. McCreath, A. B. Caverhill, J. Beattie, V Gerken, J. Richards, V. Burgess, J Hodge, D. O’Neill, R. P. Neale. Miss Muriel Harrison, Charlton Creek road, left this week to spend a holiday at Taumarunui. Miss Sarah Wylie, Timaru, is spending the Christmas holidays with her parents, Mr and Mrs J. Wylie, Broughton street. Mrs J. A. Edwards, “The Homestead, Otikerama, entertained a number of friends at bridge last Wednesday afternoon in honour of her guest, Mrs P..A. Thompson, of Blenheim. The drawing room was beautifully decorated with bowls of delphiniums and pink fairy bells. Mrs A. B. Caverhill won the prize for auction and Miss B. Gibbs for contract. Other guests present were Mesdames Irving, H. A. Price, James Hunter, H. Oswin, J. M. Boyne, R Speden, L. N. Glasson, F. V. Piper, W. L. Milne (Otikerama), A. A. Mac Gibbon. E. Paterson, D. M.
