FOUR MURDERS
THE VAR TERRORIST. ITALIAN CONFESSES. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) Paris, December 7. Gendarmes arrested near Marseilles a 38-year-old Italian who confessed to four murders in Var. He stated that the proceeds of the robberies were only about two guineas and an old silver watch. A previous message stated: The wild mountainous district of Upper Var is terror-stricken by five murders mfour months. They are believed to be the work of one man. Houses are barricaded at nightfall, and men are going about with their hands on automatics. Gendarmes are combing the large region. “
