STEAMER DELAYED

DISPUTE WITH CREW. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, November 5. The steamer Tees which was to have sailed from Lyttelton at 1 p.m. to-day for Chatham Islands has been held up because of a dispute between the crew and owner about the rate of payment for working cargo at the islands. The men at present receive 2/- a day more than their pay as seamen for this work. It is stated the crew refused to sail unless an undertaking was given that they receive Waterside Workers’ Union rates. . , The crew have been given 24 hours notice which will expire to-morrow. Eleven passengers were on the vessel in readiness to sail, but had to return ashore.
