EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS

THOUSANDS OF PILGRIMS. ASSEMBLY AT BUENOS AIRES. (United Press Assn. —Telegraph Copyright.) Buenos Aires, October 10. The thirty-second International Eucharistic Congress was opened to-day by Cardinal Pacelli before the continent’s greatest assemblage, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims from all over the world gathering about the Cross, which is 100 feet high, at Palermo Park. Four other cardinals and hundreds of bishops, priests, diplomats and Cabinet members are participating. A choir of five hundred sang as the Papal Legate arrived.

Before the huge white symbol of Christianity gleaming in bright spring sunshine, Cardinal Pacelli breathed a prayer for world peace. “White Eucharistic forms of innumerable grains of wheat compenetrated in an indissoluble union Eire the symbol of what, according to Jesus Christ, men should be. When men are kneeling in these days before the Immaculate Host, from each heart should issue an ardent cry—a universal cry—which in the world’s most diverse tongues will be joined in one sole accent to exclaim: ‘Jesus Christ, King of Peace, concede true peace to the world’.”
