DUTY ON DOORS

PLEA FOR RETENTION. SAWMILLERS APPROACH MINISTER. . (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, July 17. Representations on behalf of the New Zealand Sawmillers’ Federation were placed before the Minister of Customs, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, by Mr Bush, president, and Mr Seed, secretary, asking that the duty on doors in the late tariff should be retained, as it was feared the decreased duty would pave the way for Canadian importations. The deputation promised the Minister that he would be furnished with current domestic prices of Canadian doors and the Minister said he would take these into consideration when coming to a decision.
