OHAI NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) After a dry spell the weather has again broken and a fall of snow was experienced on Sunday evening to the extent of two inches. On Saturday afternoon some members from the Otautau Golf Club visited Ohai to play a friendly game with the local players. Four-ball foursomes were played and a most enjoyable time was spent. Following are the results with Ohai names mentioned first:—L. S. Edmond and J. E. Lewis lost to A. Milne and Melton; T. Small and J. Smeaton defeated F. Smith and Sinclair; W. Bennie and S. Giles defeated M. Baineaves and McKinnon; Miss Ferguson and Mrs Lewis lost to Miss Porteous and Miss Seattor; Mrs Scott and Mrs Gerken defeated Miss Campbell and Miss M. Porteous; Mrs Mclntosh and Miss Mclntosh defeated Mrs Ireland and Miss O’Brien. On Saturday afternoon, the second grade football team from Nightcaps journeyed to Ohai to play a match with the local team. A keen and interesting game was witnessed and resulted in a draw, no points being scored. Mr G. Andrews was referee. Miss W. Porteous, who has been the guest of Mrs C. Baineaves, returned to her home in Otautau during the week. Mrs S. Giles was a visitor to Invercargill last week. Miss Dunlop is the guest of Mrs C. Baineaves. The dance which followed the school concert was fairly well attended. Music was supplied by the Regent Orchestra, while Mr A. Harding carried out the duties of M.C. Those present were:— Mr and Mrs J. The Ohai A grade basketball team played their first match in the third round of the Western District competition on Saturday, when they travelled to Mossburn and secured an easy victory by 22 goals to 11.
