GIFT TO NEW ZEALAND

PAINTING PRESENTED. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) London, June 27. The widow of Mr Vereker Hamilton has presented to New Zealand her husband’s painting “Guatre Bras.” Explaining why the painting had been given to New Zealand, Sir lan Hamilton said his brother, when an art student, had married one of the 41 grandchildren of William Swainson, a botanist, who died at Ferngrove, in the Hutt Valley, in 1855.
