THE OFFSIDE RULE

SPECIAL GAZETTE NOTICE. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 15. An Order-in-Council has been approved clearing up the doubt that may exist regarding the validity of the offside rule and it is expected that it will be issued in the form of a special gazette to-morrow. This is the outcome of a recent judgment by Mr T. E. Maunsell, S.M., who dismissed an information against the driver of a motor vehicle for failure to observe what was commonly termed the offside rule. The new regulation definitely retained the principle of a motorist giving way to all traffic approaching from the right at an intersection if a collision seems likely.
