FIRST PRIZE WINNER ENGAGED IN FARMING. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, June 12. Mr H. W. Rusk, winner of the first prize of £2OOO in the “Happy Go Lucky” art union, is engaged in farming with his brother, F. Rusk, at Paiaka, near Towai, North Auckland, where they have a large property. He has lived in the district all his life. The farm he now occupies was worked by his father before him. He is

married with two sons aged five and ten years. “Only last night we were laughingly discussing what we would do with the money” said Mrs Rusk when advised by telephone of her husband’s good fortune. “There are plenty of things upon which the money can be spent on the farm, some of which we have been promising ourselves for years. For instance we need a new cowshed and a new car, and a truck would also be useful.” Milking machine salesmen who hope to share in the prize money are bound to be disappointed, however, she added. Rusk is very proud of his herd of grade Jerseys which is considered to be one of the best in the district, and he refuses to use machines as he considers that hand-milking is better. His 48 cows are all milked by hand. The winning ticket was purchased some time ago by mail and Mr Rusk is now awaiting the result of an overseas consultation in which he holds a ticket. He has invested in several previous art unions but this is the first success. “THE SQUABBLING TWO” TICKET PURCHASED DURING QUARREL. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 12. • Some weeks ago a young couple had a mild tiff while On their way to a dance. They purchased an Art Union ticket and at a loss to know what to sign on the butt, decided on the spur of the moment to put “The Squabbling Two.” To-day their ticket drew second prize, £5OO. One of the joint holders is Miss Helen Lion. She is an assistant in a hosiery shop, while her boy friend has been unemployed for some time.
