CHILD’S SHOCKING DEATH. (Per United Press Association.) Gisborne, June 12. Shockingly burned about the legs and body a nine months old Maori infant, Whakatakura McLean, died at Hiruhararua half an hour after his mother had discovered that she had crawled into the fire on the floor of the whare. Both the child’s feet were burnt off and the burns extended right up its legs to the body. INJURIES PROVE FATAL. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 12. James Williamson Wallace, who was injured in a motor smash in Seatoun yesterday, died to-day. DEATH FROM BURNS. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, June 12. The death occurred in the Auckland Hospital to-day of Mrs Katherine Reid, aged 32, who was admitted on Monday afternoon, suffering from burns received in an unusual accident at her home at Ponsonby. Mrs Reid was filling a bath with water from a copper, using a bucket, and she slipped and fell sideways into the bath, in which there were several inches of water. Mrs Reid was severely burned. The injured woman was in a serious condition when admitted to hospital, and she died shortly after noon to-day.
