RABBIT BOARD
NEW RIVER HUNDRED. The monthly meeting of the New River Hundred Rabbit Board held at Waianiwa on Thursday evening was attended by Messrs C. P. Dalrymple, C. Donald, D. Macpherson, T. Millar, O. O. Mackley and T. McKenzie. Mr McKenzie was appointed chairman for the ensuing year and Mr C. Donald deputy chairman. Reference was made to the able manner in which the retiring chairman, Mr C. P. Dalrymple, had carried out his duties since the board was constituted eighteen months ago, and a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Dalrymple was passed. In his acknowledgment Mr Dalrymple thanked the members for the loyal and sympathetic support they had accorded him throughout his term of office.
In reply to a local dealer who wrote asking for the opportunity to dispose of the board’s skins, it was decided in the interests of the ratepayers to adhere to the previous resolution that all skins be sold by auction at Dunedin. Rabbiters are to be reminded that they must work properties in rotation unless in their opinion as inspectors for the board the rabbits on any particular property due for their next visit are already being efficiently dealt with; and also they are to be advised that the board requires them to attend to each holding in their respective areas at least three times a year. The purchase of ferrets and nets for the rabbiters was authorized.. The secretary w’as directed to advise defaulters that legal proceedings would be taken for the recovery of all rates not paid by Saturday, May 5.
