The Health Camp
Worthy causes are always well supported and the Health Camp proved such a success last year under the capable guidance of Mrs Stahley Brown that this year the appeal for assistance has been warmly answered and the sixty children, who leave for Pounawea next week for a month’s holiday, should have every comfort imaginable. “Throughout New Zealand health camps for children have been established by interested organizations and are being encouraged by the Health Department, Government and civic officials,” writes the New Zealand Methodist Times. “There are many mothers and children needing bodybuilding food, change of circumstances and environment, relaxation in congenial surroundings, and health producing facilities. Apart from the physical benefits of these camps, opportunities are afforded for expressional and instructional activities, friendship-form-ing, and spiritual and moral education.”
It is because of the tremendous advantages of the Health Camp that those at the head of the Southland organization are desirous of following in the footsteps of some of the northern cities and erecting a permanent Rest Home and Health Camp in some congenial spot. Surely such an idea is worth supporting liberally and those who are organizing it are deserving of enthusiastic congratulation.
