ODDFELLOWSHIP
LOYAL OTAUTAU LODGE. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Otautau Lodge of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows was held on Thursday evening, there being 50 sisters and brethren present. . The District Officers, Prov. G.M. Bro. R. M. Kelman, D.P.G.M. Bro. M. A. Reidy, I.PJP.G.M. Bro. R. C. Stenhouse, P.P.G.M. Bro. Roy McKenzie, and P.P.G.M. Bro. A. B. Edmonds paid their official visit to the lodge. Prior to the lodge opening N.G. Bro. W. R. James thanked the district brethren fox their visit and trusted that their evening would be a pleasant one. ■. The principal object of the meeting was then proceeded with, viz., the judging of the lodge for the Veitch Memorial Shield. The ritual and an initiation ceremony were ably carried out, and the judges expressed themselves as highly pleased with the work of the local brethren. The toast of the “District Officers” was in the capable hands of P.G. Bro. A. S. James, being heartily responded to. “The visiting Sisters and Brethren” was proposed by V.G. Bro J. T. Smellie, to which Sisters from the Loyal Hearts of Oak and Winton, and brethren from the Lumsden, Dipton Valley (Dunedin) and Mataura Falls lodges briefly responded. Refreshments were then partaken of, and a social hour spent in music and dancing.
