WOMEN’S DIVISION

OREPUKI BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Orepuki branch of the W.D.F.U. was held on Thursday, December 14, Mrs Simpson presiding. It was decided to write to the Home Science Extension Bureau asking to be included in the dressmaking itinerary for 1934. As this was the last meeting for the year Mrs T. Brown presented Mrs Simpson with a Christmas box and extended to her as president the appreciation of the branch of her efforts on its behalf.

Mrs T. Brown, secretary, was similarly honoured. The guest for the afternoon, accompanied by Miss Murrell then arrived and the meeting took the form of a social afternoon. Mrs T. Brown was in charge of a competition which was won by Mrs Garden. Afternoon tea was then dispensed. Mrs Simpson, in a neat speech asked Miss Wilson to accept a gift of appreciation of the generosity of the Wilson family towards the Orepuki Branch of the W.D.F.U. ever since its inception. Mesdames Garden and White also spoke in eulogy of Miss Wilson. Miss Wilson feelingly replied. Mrs Climie then took charge of the competition of which Mrs Menpes was the winner. The v competition “A knitted scarf” was adjudged as follows by Miss Murrell: Mrs Feaver 1, Mrs King 2. j
