Definite Success

OPERATIC SOCIETY’S DANCE. Last Tuesday evening the Invercargill Operatic Society held their annual dance in Everybody s Hall. It was a most successful function and an evening of hilarious jollity was spent. Mr Mansfield was responsible for the charming decorations and the Footwarmers Orchestra supplied bright music. The big hit of the evening was the “Mystery Berlei” Ballet, which was given by six male members of the Operatic Society who wore long whitenighties and a garland of flowers round their head?. Suitable melodics helped these enthusiasts to demonstrate the real art of terpsichore. Miss N. Derby’s item was also much enjoyed. This was very novel and took the form of a clever impersonations of famous film stars taken from the record “A Hollywood Party.” Mr S. Sutherland judged the waltzing competition which was won by Miss G. Sligo and partner. Miss S. Rankin and Mr L. Bennett won the Lucky First and Mrs O. Rice and Mr W. Fraser the Monte Carlo. Those present included: Mr and Mrs MacGregor, Mr and Mrs Bell, Mr and Mrs Alley, Mr and Mrs O. Rice, Mr and Mrs W. Pope, Mr and Mrs Rout, Mr and Mrs Norton, Mr and Mrs A.
