GORE LADIES’ CLUB. END OF SEASON. The end of season gathering of the Gore Ladies’ Golf Club was held at the East Gore links yesterday in dull weather with a light drizzling rain, but this did not deter a good number of members from attending. Competitions were held and afternoon tea was provided after which opportunity was taken to present the prizes won during the season, a table bearing the trophies having a nice array. The president of the club (Mrs J. A. S. Atiken) said that the club was still dogged with bad weather and in order to overcome the difficulty she would suggest a change of dates with the men or a move to the Croydon links. The season had been a good one and some interesting games had been played. Not so many foreign games had been played, but this had been due to the unfavourable weather. During the year the secretary (Mrs T. L. Piller) had had to relinquish her duties on account of her husband’s illness, but it was hoped that she would be able to resume the secretaryship soon. Mrs R. W. McCreath had, however, come forward and had filled the position ably. Mrs R. Fisher then presented the prizes.

The prize list was as follows:—A grade champion, Mrs J. A. Brown; runner-up, Mrs A. E. Boult. B grade champion, Miss M. Rogers; runner-up, Miss M. Maher. L.G.U. Silver Medal, Mrs F. V. Piper; bronze medal, Miss M. Rogers. Ringer competitions. Senior, Mrs F. V. Piper; junior, Miss M. Rogers. Bisque match, Mrs C. Fleming. League match, Mrs Martin and Miss Blakie.

Knock-out competition (Baker Shield), Mrs G. R. Martin. Silver spoons, Miss Aitcheson (2), Mrs Caverhill, Mrs McCreath, Miss M. Rogers and Mrs George Mitchell. Balls were won during the season by the following:—Miss Aitcheson, Mrs Perry, Mrs Tait, Mrs Peterson, Miss N. Paterson, Mrs McCreath, Miss V. Graham, Miss D. Green, Mrs Fleming, Mrs S. Taylor, Mrs D. Reid, Miss McCrostie, Mrs Piper, Miss I. Rhodes, Mrs E. D. Kirby, Miss K. Kirk, Mrs Hunter, Mrs E. J. Crosbie and Miss M. Maher. Yesterday’s competitions resulted as follows:— Long driving.—Senior, Mrs F. V. Piper; junior, Miss K. Kirk. Approaching and putting, Miss N. Patterson. C grade putting, Miss D. Green.
