The return for the week for Mahakipawa was 20 ounces. SYDNEY STOCK EXCHANGE. PASTORAL AND GOLD SHARES ADVANCE. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 8.55 p.m.) Sydney, August 28. The strong opening of the new season’s wool sales was reflected in the investment market to-day, pastoral shares showing a very substantial increase above recently advanced rates. Some gold shares also moved up in sympathy with the high price of gold recorded at the week-end. Among these were Bulolo Gold and the parent concern, Placer Development, Mount Morgan and New Guinea Goldfields as well as some Western Australian ventures. All touched new high levels. Lamb Market: Continues firm at the advanced prices with steady demand. Mutton Market: Wethers firm; prices have advanced owing to shortening of spot stocks. Ewes are also firmer with upward tendency. Beef Market: There has been more inquiry for frozen beef owing to increase in prices Argentine chilled beef due to shorter supplies. New Zealand Porker Pigs: Firmer, owing to temporary short supplies and slightly better demand. New Zealand Baconer Pigs: Also firmer due to short spot stocks.
