SENTENCE IN AUCKLAND.

Auckland, August 28,
James Duggan Stephens, aged 26, formerly employed by the Public Trust Office, was sentenced to-day to three years’ reformative detention for the theft of £259 and forgery. Counsel said prisoner’s offences were due to gambling. Mr Justice Herdman said the case was just common theft.
