TAXES RESENTED
OUTBREAK OF RIOTING. (United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) _ St. Pierre (Miquelon), August 27. Rioting by the populace of St. Pierre as a protest against the imposition of taxes by the-Governor of the French colony, resulted in the rushing of two warships to the port and the occupation of the city by armed sailors. A later message states that a number of citizens have been arrested and sailors are patrolling the streets. The Governor’s action was taken m disregard of a protesting vote by elected inembers of the Government Council.
